About the Journal
JINDIS (Journal of Indigenous Islam) is a peer-reviewed international journal published by Griya Republik. This is an open-access academic journal committed to exploring the diverse manifestations of Islam rooted in local cultures, historical memories, and indigenous epistemologies. The journal welcomes rigorous scholarly contributions across disciplines—anthropology, philology, religious studies, sociology, and decolonial studies—that critically engage with indigenous Islamic practices and thoughts, particularly from Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and other local Muslim contexts. Our aim is to build a globally relevant yet locally grounded archive of Islamic scholarship. The journal is open-access and freely allows users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of all published material for all lawful purposes. The journal is published in 2 editions every year.
